In the English department, assignments are considered one day late if they are not submitted the period that they are due. If a student submits a daily assignment late, the highest grade the student can receive is a 70. If a student submits a daily assignment two days late, the highest grade the student can receive is a 50. Daily assignments will not be accepted more than two days late.
The English department policy provides for students the opportunity to re-write major essays for reinforcement of the writing process and to raise the student’s grade. Students must initiate the re-write process per the individual teacher’s policy (i.e. Google form, email, conference, etc.) The student and teacher will agree to a timeline. The student must submit their rewrite in accordance with the timeline in order to receive an improved grade. Students may receive up to 2 letter grades higher than the original grade if all requirements are met. Students may re-write 1 essay per nine weeks.
Plagiarism is stealing – it will result in a ZERO on the assignment and disciplinary action.
Unattributed use of AI-generated content, over-reliance on AI for your work, or using AI to avoid reading or analysis will be considered violations of our academic integrity policy.
In order to verify that you have genuinely learned from the assignment and have not resorted to using AI or cheating, you should be able to discuss the topic verbally and demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of anything submitted. An inability to support/extend your work through conversation or extension questions will demonstrate a need to relearn the material and provide new evidence of the learning.
